5 Reasons Why You Might Prefer Whiteboards Over Glassboards

5 Reasons Why You Might Prefer Whiteboards Over Glassboards

So we obviously love glassboards. We think they’re great. But as the saying goes, “Different strokes for different folks,” and we realize that maybe not everyone is as passionate about glassboards as we are. Whiteboards do have their good qualities as well—or so we’ve been told. We thought it over, and here are 5 reasons you might prefer to buy a whiteboard over a glassboard.

You Like Replacing Things Every Few Years

Some people just like to buy new things. There’s nothing wrong with that. So if you’re the kind of person who likes to replace things every few years, then you probably don’t want a glassboard. Those things will last for decades, and will almost never give you a good reason to replace them.

Whiteboards, on the other hand, are the compulsive shopper’s dream. Prone to warping, peeling, ghosting, and denting, there are always plenty of reasons to get a new whiteboard. On average, a whiteboard needs to be replaced every four to six years. So you won’t have to wait too long to get your shopping on.

You Love the Rugged, Worn Out Look

We know that the “rustic” look is all the rage these days—weathered wood, distressed furniture, and tarnished metals can make great statement pieces. If this is a look you want to extend to your office, then perhaps you'll want a whiteboard. It won’t take long for it to take on a very aged look. You don’t even have to intentionally distress it; it just happens naturally!

Glassboards tend to be more sleek and modern. Of course, with our glassboards, you could just customize them with a rustic background. But if you prefer the more naturally worn out look of a whiteboard, we totally get it.

You Think Style Is Overrated

Now, on the other hand, you might not have any stylistic preferences. In fact, you might think anything unique and stylish is completely overrated. And that’s just fine too. Beige is great for a lot of people, and a bland office space certainly makes it easy to move offices if you need to. If this is your preference, whiteboards could be great for you. They’re plain, unassuming, and mass produced to perfectly suit that cookie-cutter look.

Glassboards do also offer the option of plain glass, so that you don’t have to worry about too much style intruding on your space. But we understand that even that can add a modern flair to your office, and if you don’t want that, we won’t be offended.

You Like Outdated Things

Some people just have a hard time adjusting to new things, and they prefer the “good old days,” back when things were simpler. If you’re still using a landline, haven’t upgraded from dialup internet, and enjoy adjusting the rabbit ears on top of your television, then whiteboards are probably the better option for you. They won’t bother you with any new-fangled features or offer you an upgraded look. Whiteboards keep things simple, old-fashioned, and out of date—just like you like it!

There’s a lot to be said with sticking to the classics. Our opinion is that convenience, quality, and style should win the day, but we can respect your loyalty to something that has outlived its usefulness. We don’t really understand it—but we respect it.

You Want to Remember Everything You’ve Written

Oftentimes, you write stuff down so that you can remember it. We get that. That’s one of the main purposes of a whiteboard or glassboard. But what about when that board is erased? How are you supposed to remember it once it’s gone? Generally, we assume that you wouldn’t erase the board until you were done with whatever you’d written. But hey, accidents happen.

Whiteboards offer this nifty feature called ghosting, which leaves a filmy replica of everything you’ve ever written on the board behind, no matter how hard you try to clean it. Some might call it a nuisance, and others would even say it looks dirty. But if you need to recall what you had written up there last week, it sure can be useful.

Hey, it can even lend a bit of nostalgia to your office space, as you catch a glimpse of that little doodle your daughter drew when she visited you at work last Christmas. Personally, we prefer just customizing our glassboards with nostalgic images of our choice, but to each his own.

All in all, we can completely understand why you’d want to stick to whiteboards. If these things are important to you, then glassboards simply aren’t going to cut it. But if you change your mind and want something stylish, modern, durable, and easy to clean, feel free to reach out at any time. We’ll be here to help you make the switch.
